  1. Where is my personal health data stored?
    Your personal health data is stored in a secured facility in Ontario, Canada.
  2. Who has access to or can see my health data?
    No one except you has access to your personal health data.
  3. How do you protect the privacy of my personal information?
    We will not share your health data with anyone - individuals, employers or third parties. You input, manage, and control the information in your personal account. And you determine who has access to view the information in your personal account.
  4. What health information can I store in my PHS?
    You can store as much health information in your personal account as you desire. Health information you can record includes: measurement readings (blood glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure), medications, allergies, medical history, family history, procedures, and immunizations. You can even record information regarding your health plans and healthcare providers.
  5. Will my personal account expire?
    No. Your health site never expires.
  6. Who do I contact for advice on medical terms and/or conditions?
    Contact a healthcare provider for medical advice. The personal health account is NOT a substitution for medical advice or treatment from a healthcare provider. If your condition is critical, go immediately to an emergency facility. This service does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.
  7. When you say that personal information is not given out “with the exception of suppliers which support our servers,” what exactly does that mean?
    In limited situations data will travel through other servers such as is the case with an email server providing email services. This occurs for reminders as an example. While personal information is not explicitly provided, it is available during transit as well as at rest when email is stored in the recipients email servers. In addition to email, backups that are both onsite and offsite are maintained by system administrators at our secured data centre Q9. In short, no personal information is "visible" or actually accessed and read by a human, nor does it get copy to any system or any one outside of the data centre.
  8. If a person wishes to cancel their account, what do you do with their information?
    Once canceled, the account and all associated data contained within the system that a user has supplied is physically removed from the database. This includes profile information supplied during registration in addition to all data supplied by the user through features of the site such as health, contact, and insurance related information. We do not remove data from separate system backups maintained by the data centre Q9, however backup retention policy is limited to a particular length of time (7 days). Access to this back up data is not possible as they are fully encrypted and under the provision of the data centre. Q9 is considered to be the most trusted and secure data hosting facility in Canada, providing services to most (if not all) Canadian banks, other financial and health related associations.
  9. Do you have any screen grabs or a virtual tour of the site that I can view? I would like to get a feel for it without having to register.
    There is a short online presentation you can view here - however this does not contain any screen shot (Virtual Tour) of the site, but we plan to release something more of a virtual walk-through of the service and how to use in the near year.
